iWitness is one of those must have apps that you need for personal safety. iWitness should be one item in your overall plan to keep safe. It will not prevent bad events, but it could actually save your life.
The way it works is you 'arm' the app before you enter a 'potentially threatening environment'. For example, if you are having to walk to your car late at night, you would arm the app before you walk out the door. Anytime you are uncomfortable in your situation, you can click the 'rec' button. This will start the record mode. iWitness will attempt to record video and audio as you walk.
If you feel in danger, you can tap your screen and put it into 'Emergency Mode'. After a 5 second delay, it will auto dial 911. It will also text/email preselected contacts informing them that you feel threatened and send a map of your location.
The app is available for the iPhone, Android and the Windows phone. This does require a monthly fee of $3.99 but if you are worried about your safety, it is well worth it.
