I have been down to Nashville countless times over the years and for the past 10 or so, I have stopped by Financial Peace Plaza in Brentwood, TN (15 minutes south of Nashville), hoping for the opportunity to watch as Dave performs his live daily radio show.

Dan Heath recently spoke at a conference I attended, and I was fortunate to meet him afterwards. Dan Heath, along with his brother Chip, wrote the book Made to Stick, which goes into depth about why some ideas survive and others just die out.

During his event, he made a number of observations that ring very true: urban legends, conspiracy theories, and bogus health scares circulate effortlessly.

The security issue:

Microsoft has announced a vulnerability in Internet Explorer through the Adobe Flash plugin. The Flash plugin is used to display banner ads, web animation and games. The United States government has issued a recommendation* to stop using Internet Explorer until it is patched.

Affected Internet Explorer versions include 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, RT, Server 2003, Server 2008 and Server 2012. Server 2008 and 2012 Core installations are not affected.
