The Barefoot World Atlas (by Touch Press) is a wonderful 3D interactive atlas that invites kids to explore globe. This app is based upon their best-selling book of the same name.
There are other globe/atlas type apps out there (i.e. Google Earth) but Barefoot World Atlas adds a lot more information and is much more visually pleasing. You can spin the graphic rich globe and it automatically shows you the 3D buildings or items associated with the regions or countries. It is narrated by Nick Crane of the BBC and has wonderful animations.
I gave my 4-year old daughter my iPad (she thinks it’s hers) and she has it mastered and loves to tell me everything she sees.
This is only for the iPhone, iPad and the iPod Touch. There is not an android version of this application yet. The price of this app is $4.95 and is worth every penny!
